Interior painting done the way it should be
An interior repaint is the highest-impact change you can make to a home for the money, and it is also the easiest one to get wrong. Most of the difference between a paint job that looks good for two years and one that still looks sharp after ten happens before any colour goes on the wall — in the filling, the sanding, the sealing and the priming that nobody sees.

What an interior repaint includes
Every quote is itemised by surface so you can see exactly what is covered and adjust the scope if you want to stage the work across rooms or levels.
- Walls — filled, sanded, spot-primed and finished in two coats of premium low-sheen or matt
- Ceilings — cut in and rolled in flat ceiling white, or a specified colour where required
- Cornices, skirtings, architraves and window reveals in enamel or water-based enamel
- Doors and door frames, including hinge and hardware removal where practical
- Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, brush-finished or spray-finished for a factory look
- Feature walls, colour blocking and specialty finishes such as limewash
- Plaster crack repairs, cornice repairs and patching before painting
Preparation is the job
We mask and cover every surface that is not being painted — floors, benchtops, joinery, light fittings and window furnishings. Furniture is moved to the centre of the room and wrapped, or relocated where you prefer.
Surfaces are washed where needed, sanded back to a sound key, filled and re-sanded flush. Water stains, nicotine and marker bleed are sealed with a stain-blocking primer so they do not ghost back through the topcoat. Bare plaster and new patches get a dedicated sealer, never just an extra coat of colour.
Dust is controlled with vacuum-assisted sanding and daily clean-downs. You should not be finding paint dust on your skirtings for a fortnight after we leave.
Paints and finishes we use
We specify Dulux and Haymes systems as standard, with Wattyl and Porter's used where a particular finish calls for it. The product is matched to the room rather than applied uniformly across the house.
Bathrooms, laundries and kitchens get washable, mould-resistant finishes. High-traffic hallways and children's bedrooms get a low-sheen with proper scrub resistance. Living areas and bedrooms often suit a matt for the softer light. Trims and doors are finished in a water-based enamel that holds its whiteness instead of yellowing.
Low-VOC and near-odourless options are available throughout if you have young children, allergies, or you need to stay living in the home during the works.
Living in the house while we paint
Most of our interior clients stay in the home for the duration. We stage the work room by room so you always have somewhere to sleep, cook and work, and we clean up and re-open access at the end of each day.
Start and finish times are agreed up front. We do not turn up unannounced, and we do not disappear mid-project to chase another job — your project runs continuously until it is finished.

Floors, fixtures and landscaping are covered. Preparation is the stage that decides how long the finish lasts, so it is never rushed.

Primers and topcoats applied to manufacturer specification, in the right conditions, with the correct number of coats.

We inspect cut-ins, edges and coverage in natural light and correct anything that falls short before we call it finished.

We walk the completed job with you, hand over touch-up paint and colour records, and only invoice once you are happy.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to paint the interior of a house?
A single room is usually one to two days. A typical three-bedroom home interior takes five to ten working days depending on how much repair work is needed and whether trims and doors are included. We give you a day count in the quote, not a vague estimate.
Do I need to move out while you paint?
Almost never. We stage the work room by room and reinstate access each evening. If you would prefer the job done in one uninterrupted run while you are away, we can do that too — it is usually faster.
Do you paint ceilings as well as walls?
Yes. Ceilings can be included or excluded from the scope, and we will price them separately so you can decide. If a ceiling has water staining or cracked cornice, we will flag the repair before quoting the paint.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
Two coats of topcoat over a prepared and primed surface is our standard. Strong colour changes, deep reds and some dark colours need three. If a surface genuinely only needs one coat we will say so and price it accordingly.
Can you help me choose colours?
Yes. We provide colour consultation as part of larger interior projects and can arrange large-format sample boards so you are looking at the colour in your own light rather than a chip in a shop.
Will the paint smell?
Modern water-based interior paints have very low odour and clear within a few hours of ventilation. If anyone in the house is sensitive, ask for the low-VOC system and we will specify it throughout.
